PRACTICAL INFORMATION

How to get to Murcia?

From Europe/Outside Europe: The best option is to fly to the Alicante Airport (ALC) and then getting to the city via bus or train. The commute from ALC is ∼1 hour. Another option is to fly to the Murcia Airport (RMU) and then getting to the city via taxi. The commute from RMU is ∼30 munites but usually more expensive than from ALC.

If you travel to the Alicante Airport (ALC)...
You can get a bus to Murcia at the airport in this webpage: Buses ALSA
You can get a short trip on the city bus (C6) to Alicante. The Train Station stop is "Estación-Salamanca". Then, you can take a train from Alicante to Murcia. You can find the tickets in this webpage: RENFE

If you travel to the Murcia Airport (RMU)...
You can get a taxi to Murcia at the airport in this webpage: Taxi RMU

If you travel to other city in Spain, like Madrid, Barcelona, or Valencia...
If you prefer to not to take another flight to ALC or RMU, the best option is to take a train to Murcia. Trains from Madrid and Valencia are ∼3 hours long. Trains from Barcelona are ∼6 hours long. You can find train tickets in this webpage: RENFE

Where can you stay?

Hotels: Hotels are always the most expensive option, but Murcia is a relatively cheap city. You can find a room in some of the best hotels in the city center for ~70 euros per night (there are also cheaper options, of course). Three examples are:
Hotel Hesperia, just around the corner from the cathedral.
Hotel El Churra, a good & cheap option at walking distance to the city center.
Hotel Barceló Murcia Siete Coronas, near to the river and the courthouse.

Hostels and Other: Less expensive options include the typical renting/sharing options (e.g., AirBnB, CouchSurfing) as well as hostels. There are a few hostels in Murcia in which you can stay for ~40 euros per night. Two examples are:
The Cathedral Hostel, just around the corner from the cathedral. This is the best option if you want to be close to everywhere in the city.
La Casa Verde Hostel, in the middle of the Murcian orchad. It would take ~30 minutes walking to get to the city center. At some points of the day, specially at night, you'll likely need a taxi to get there.

Places to Eat

We will be a lot of people in the conference (~70 people). Given this, the organizers won't be able to guide everyone for lunch and it's very unlikely we all can have lunch in the same place. Here, we propose 4 different areas (from closer to farther to the conference venue) to have lunch. Remember lunch time is 1.30 hours (click on area names to see a map; you can also look for the area in Google Map by introducing its name):

Cuartel de Artillería: There are a few places around the conference venue. You are get there in less than 10 minutes. Examples are:
Cafetería Cuartel de Artillería is in the conference venue. A small place with typical Murcian food and other dishes to eat. They likely have "Menú del día", a 2-courses lunch for a fixed price.
Restaurante Casa Pacoche is very close to conference venue. A bigger place with typical Murcian food and other dishes to eat. They likely have "Menú del día" as well.
La Tarantella is an Italian restaurant. Also very close to the conference venue.
River Sound is a small cafeteria right on the river banks. It has breakfast and tapas.

Mercado de Verónicas: This area is full of places to eat and you can get there in less than 15 minutes. Examples are: Como en Nápoli, Hola Sushi, Flower Place, or Olifood, among others. Many of them will likely have "Menú del Día". This is the walking route from the conference venue.

Catedral: This area is full of places to eat and you can get there in less than 15 minutes. Examples are: Bar Los Zagales, La Marinera, El Horno de Belluga, or Cosa Fina, among others. Many of them will likely have "Menú del Día". This is the walking route from the conference venue.
